Daniel May is a Senior Financial Executive with proven successes in all facets of financial management including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, financial reporting and controls, information technology, economic analysis and treasury management. Dan is a decisive leader with strong communication, operations, and strategic planning skills, and he has broad experience driving revenue growth, business development, cost reduction and process redesign. Dan has strong analytical, creative, negotiation and cross-functional team skills.


BACKGROUND

Dan has 40 years of experience as a “Big 4” partner, consultant and private company CFO.  He has deep transaction experience as a Corporate Finance partner and growth company CFO. He has managed local and regional consulting practices and understands business from a senior leader prospective. He believes in a fearless approach to business with an emphasis on quality and integrity. 

Most recently the President of Dietrich & Company where Dan provided strategic direction, firm leadership and healthcare transaction expertise. Dan was the CFO at Renal Ventures Management, a kidney dialysis company. He was an integral member of the management team leading strategy, growth, regulatory compliance, tax, risk management and information systems.  Dan was instrumental in the growth of the company and implemented processes that resulted in operating costs amongst the lowest in the industry.  Dan developed a best-in-class revenue management organization and built business development capabilities that tripled the number of clinics and significantly increased the EBITDA growth rate for the company.  In addition, Dan led the sale of the company to an industry leader for $400M.

Before Renal Ventures Dan was the CFO and Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration for the Denver Newspaper Agency.  He was recruited by the CEO for this position as a result of the consulting he provided as the lead partner of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Finance team engaged to design and form the Agency.  In this role Dan built and led a 160 person finance and information technology team with responsibility for financial reporting and control, management reporting and analysis, strategic planning, corporate finance and banking relationships, procurement, treasury activities, budgeting, capital planning and information systems. He successfully secured significant institutional and bank financing, created and drove business plans for new ventures and created the organizational, reporting and control structures for this new entity.

Previous to his work at the Denver Newspaper Agency Dan was with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) for 24 years.  Dan led the Denver practice in M&A and corporate finance activities including sales of entities, debt and equity financings, due diligence, business combinations, process control and design and post merger integration.  Dan, as the Lead Partner of  the Denver based team that designed, planned and executed the merger of Denver’s two daily newspapers into The Denver Newspaper Agency and was instrumental in developing PWC’s port merger integration methodology.  Dan began his career at PWC as an auditor and quickly went on to form the regional transaction services group and was a founder of the firms registered broker dealer.

Dan holds his BS in Accounting from the University of Colorado.  In addition, he is an inactive state of Colorado CPA and is an active Certified Global Management Accountant. Dan is currently the Chair of Board, Goodwill Industries of Denver and has been very active previously on Boards and Advisory councils including Craig Hospital, American Lung Association of Colorado and The Downtown Denver Partnership.  Dan is also a member of a number of industry groups including the Financial Executives Institute, Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Corporate Directors.
